Leveraging Our Competitive Advantage
Spring is finally here for most of us, and in my home state of Georgia we once again kicked things off with another great Masters golf tournament. Spring is also "trade show season," and last month Eric Dufour – our VP of Innovation and Technology – Jay White – OEM Sales Manager – and I attended the MOSTRA show in Milan, Italy. MOSTRA is held every other year and is the European equivalent of our AHR show. Covering more than 10 times the square footage of AHR, MOSTRA showcases the world’s cutting-edge HVAC technologies, many of which are targeted for the North American market.

You may not know, but last year alone we provided products to over two dozen different boiler/heat exchanger/furnace OEMs located around the world. From internal components like flue pipes and drain pans, to our patented 3-in-1 adapters and cascading kits, we have become the industry leading "go to" venting partner for OEM engineering departments across the globe. These relationships bring value to all our partners through OEM listings, easy-to-use appliance adapters, and keeping our entire organization in tune with the changes taking place across the entire industry.

No different than how we provide custom components for each of our OEM clients, we recognize that not all boiler venting installations align perfectly with standard size venting products. In this issue of The Vent, Mike Heavener, leader of our Design Services Group, discusses the advantages of including one of our fixed blade dampers on your projects, and how it can transform standard size venting products into a perfect fit for most any installation.

Please let my team or I know what custom solution we can help create to make 2018 the best year your organization has ever had.

Project Focus:
Booker T. Washington Community Center

The hot water heater and hot water boiler exhaust system at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in San Francisco presented an opportunity for the Security Chimneys Secure Seal® venting product. The facility had three domestic hot water heaters and hot water boilers that were all combined vented with a mechanical draft exhaust system. Read how the Security Chimneys flues were installed to allow for balancing of the system.

Fixed Blade Dampers
Tech Tip:
Fixed Blade Dampers
Fine tuning a multiple appliance (N+1) exhaust system isn’t an easy task. Proper backpressure at the appliance outlet while sizing the vent for a full load creates a challenge, even for a single appliance system it can also be difficult. Maintaining the optimal pressure through the appliance aids in proper operation and efficiency while preventing higher than desired draft. A proper draft allows for a more complete combustion which increases efficiency. The solution? Our Fixed-blade Damper.
