Are You Ready for the 4th Quarter?

As the 4th quarter quickly approaches, we are looking forward to the completion of another great year! We are diligently working to build inventory for the upcoming busy season. All we need is cold weather to remind consumers that winter is surely on its way. From my many discussions with our customers, it is clear that a high-volume busy season is fast approaching. With that in mind, make sure not to delay in placing your orders!

As you prepare for this busy season, it’s a good idea to review your chimney inventory levels. The upcoming changes required by the EPA will stimulate sales of woodburning appliances beginning in the 4th quarter and moving into the 1st quarter of 2020. There will most likely be a sell-down of the 2019 inventory to meet the May 2020 deadline for the new EPA compliant stoves. Also, keep in mind that a great number of these wood stoves will require Class A Chimney!

In other news, we are excited to announce that we have a key product enhancement on our PolyPro® product line and an introduction of a new DirectVent® product coming in October. PolyPro has a new form of joint connection that was introduced this month. This new Locking Clamp connection makes our joint the strongest in the market. DirectVent will be getting a few new SKUs called DirectVent Flex. This product has been requested by a number of our OEMs and will be a unitized 5’ or 10’ co-axial/concentric 4"x7" and 5"x8" aluminum flex with factory connector ends. It can be used for a simple up and out horizontal installation or as an in-line pipe section with our rigid pipe that will avoid obstructions more effectively than rigid elbows. Remember, these components must be approved by your appliance OEM and, please note, that we are diligently working on receiving those approvals.

As always, keep connected with DuraVent to find out more about these items in the coming months and again, thank you for your business and interest in DuraVent/Security Chimneys products. We look forward to a great close to 2019!

Sincerely yours,

Newly Designed PolyPro® Locking Clamps

When compared to PVC/CPVC, DuraVent’s PolyPro® products offer numerous benefits that will not only keep your home safe but will also protect the environment. PVC typically contains a variety of toxic chemical stabilizers including lead and cadmium, among others. In building fires, PVC can release deadly hydrogen chloride, creating safety threats for building occupants and firefighters. Made from hydrogen and carbon, polypropylene is environmentally safe and 100% recyclable. In addition to the environmental benefits, our PolyPro product line now offers a newly designed Locking Clamp that will save you additional time and money through faster installations and more efficient venting. Not only does the new design ensure a stronger connection, but it is also backward compatible with your existing PolyPro venting. This innovation has also enabled us to reduce the horizontal slope requirement from 5/8" rise over run to 3/8", allowing for a smaller installation footprint and more efficient flow. In order to provide you with information and support, we’ve created an informational bulletin that has everything you need to know about PolyPro below. You can also see all of our PolyPro products on our website at DuraVent.com.

Bad Build Fridays!

Thomas Edison was asked what is was like to fail so many times before inventing the luminescent lightbulb. His response? "I have not failed 1,000 times.  I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb." That could be the inspiration behind our Bad Build series, or it could be that they are just entertaining. Either way, our series of Bad Build social media posts have become a fan favorite across our social media channels! Whether a homeowner is using rain gutter to vent their pellet stove or their Chevy’s hubcap as a chimney cap, there is something for everyone to laugh at and learn from! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see all the hilarious Bad Build Fridays and submit your own to marketing@duravent.com or message us on any one our channels to have yours featured!

Tech Highlight

In 2018 we redesigned the cleanout cap for PelletVent® Pro Clean Out Tee. That new design used a single spring button locking system. Though the single spring locking button works perfectly well, we have now added a second spring button. Installer feedback convinced us that a second spring button would provide added security to the locking system.  We listened, and now, our PelletVent Pro tees comes with the double spring button cleanout cap.  PelletVent Pro is engineered to be a durable, safe and aesthetically pleasing vent system. PelletVent Pro is the #1 vent chosen for wood pellet and multi-fuel burning stoves.  The double spring button design enables an easier twist removal of the clean out cap and a new, lower profile that allows for easier cleaning and maintenance, keeping your stove working longer and your home and family safe.
