The Busy Season Continues

This is normally the beginning of our busy season for hearth products. However, this is not the case this year. The busy season from last year never ended. We have had 16 consecutive months of continuous orders and shipment growth. Our orders have grown beyond all forecasts and our shipments have increased overtaking last year’s total sales in August of this year. Most of you have seen the effect of this increased demand. Our raw materials pricing has been subject to continued increases. Additionally, raw material and lack of availability has increased cost, and lead time, resulting in production delays. A good portion of our output is now made up of overtime labor due to the increased demand and lack of labor supply. We are working overtime whenever raw materials allow us to have continuous production. Other issues causing delays are the supply of cardboard for packaging and freight availability. The trucking companies are fully scheduled out, the rates have significantly increased, and travel time has almost doubled. It seems to be never ending. The fact is, based on the information we have, these trends will continue into the first quarter of 2022. Although this increased business is good, it is also very frustrating and stressful to sustain. Be assured that we are doing anything and everything to get product shipped.

For those of you that are customers, you may find it helpful to look at your records and examine how much your purchases have increased over the last year. Most of you will find the increase is in the double digits. It’s not that we aren’t shipping product, this delay
is purely driven by demand. For more details, please feel free to contact your regional sales manager for more data. They are always happy to assist.

On a more positive note, we will begin shipping our new DirectVent® Pro Concentric Flex October 1, 2021. We have finally received the necessary equipment; it is up and running and production has begun! For the past few weeks, we have been showing samples to customers and OEMs and the reviews have been fantastic and customers are looking forward to using it. Please remember, with direct vent appliances, OEM approval must be given for each model. If your OEM appliance manufacturer has not provided the approval, please help us reach out to them to obtain samples and the information needed for approval. We greatly appreciate your assistance in this effort as will the installers!

Looking forward is probably one of the most difficult things to do in this environment. Hopefully we will see COVID and its variants disappear. However, while it is still out there - be safe and take care of yourselves and your families. Our industry is strong,  and we are confident that we will be able to get caught up and get back to some semblance of normalcy.  We thank you all for your interest in DuraVent and appreciate your support.

Sincerely yours,

Stay Warm AND Safe This Fall
Fall is here and the colder days follow. Now is the time to make sure your home is ready to keep you and your family warm this season, and just importantly...safe. First, make sure that your existing chimney is clean and creosote free. Creosote is a highly flammable chemical compound that builds up in your chimney over time. A stray spark in your chimney can ignite creosote buildup resulting in a chimney fire. Therefore, it is imperative that a chimney sweep inspects and cleans your chimney before regular use in the winter months.

Next, if you bought a new insert for your chimney, it is essential that it be relined. Luckily, DuraVent has the perfect solution with our DuraFlex relining. DuraFlex® Pro is the ultimate in flexible steel liners for strength and flexibility. Manufactured utilizing highly corrosion resistant 316 Stainless Steel and listed to UL 1777 and ULC S635. Click below to check out more of our relining options and stay safe and warm this season!

Take the Pain Out of Cleaning Your Pellet Stove
We listened, learned, and innovated. Our new Tee Cap for PelletVent® was redesigned with the longevity of our customers’ pellet stoves in mind. Our spring button design has made it easier to remove and the lower profile body makes it easier and more convenient to clean. Ash and other debris can get caught within the cap, resulting in an inefficient burn and possible damage to the stove. By making the removal and cleaning process simple, customers can enjoy their pellet stoves safely and longer this fall.
