Recent research shows that the amount of zero clearance sold in a given market ranged between 5-30%. If your RFQs are outside that range you may be overdesigning. There are exceptions; For
example, if your AHJ requests UL 2221 compliance, then you quote our Zero Clearance product. However, the purpose of UL 2221 is to achieve a 2-hour fire rating. Many applications don’t require this rating or the associated zero clearance. Due to a lack of information or the desire to avoid mistakes, the number of quotes requesting zero clearance are far higher than the actual need or the actual number that are sold with zero clearance. The result of overdesigning and quoting zero clearance is often overpricing. The jobs you could win - you won’t. If you do win the job, you could needlessly leave margin on the table. DuraVent is the Answer! Using DuraVent’s broad product line positions you to win. We have 3 double wall product lines that are not zero clearance and 1 single wall line. Appropriate use of all 5 product lines and bidding the right clearance is the answer.
